    Excellent !!!!!

That sounds something to look forward to.

Is there anyway we can have a “like” button like Facebook? Often we really
agree with something but have not the tie to do a whole post.

I can do that for sure :) I am in the process of making a little survey with a few questions on (nothing long) – so do look out for the post!! I’d love your feedback :)

Re: What did you do today?

Having some lovely spring sunshine I decided to venture outside for the first time
in a week. Get down to Tesco and get some fresh stuff rather than than the frozen muck
I live on most of the winter.

Remembered all the physio advice about concentrating as I got on the bus and
when I got off the bus. All was going well as I came out of Tesco with my lovely
purchases on my rollator but a small turn onto their sloping ramp and thumb I
am on the concrete. Luckily most of my fall was broken by bred, eggs and biscuits.

Cab home, fed up, going to be eating broken biscuits for a time.

How do you concentrate 100 %, that is my question to nice physios ? It is impossible
one slight gradient and a bit of shopping and it all goes haywire.

    Back to online Tesco now.

Oh you poor thing – broken biscuits eh? That isn’t a good ending at all. But you’re not hurt are you? I sure hope not. Online shopping is good but I always find that I end up with 90% substitutes with Tesco :(

    Thanks the sympathy.

I am very pleased to have got away with a fall onto concrete with just a couple of bruises.

Now it is a good thing I now realise because I will learn and my body
will be more alert in these situations and come up with “coping strategies”.

The substitutions are a pain, especially with my restricted diet, it means something I cannot eat.

Grr don’t you just hate it when they send you something that you can’t eat? The amount of times they have sub’d my veggie option with fish-based stuff!!! Hey life is one big learning curve, just some of us have to pay more attention than others – you will get there #powertothefox!

    Cannot believe it.

After falling yesterday I had to venture out again because the milk carton had all leaked away.

Had another heavy fall and then getting out of the Taxi at home fell on the concrete at my front door. With
three falls in two days I think my body is trying to tell me something. I did break the rule of the
MD Advisor not to go out on two consecutive days but this is still a bit much.

I seem to have pulled the same intercostal muscle that pt me in casualty two years ago but I
am not going there to sit for six hours in pain.

Two of the falls were turning on a slight gradient or incline, but I have been speaking to
respiratory over needing to use the CPAP during the day so I feel I was at a “low ebb”. But
what can you do, you cannot not do the daily stuff.

Why is life so complicated ?

Oh gosh Taung … Hope you are alright, just pride bruised. It can be so demoralising when things go wrong, but as superstition says things come in threes, then you’ve had your lot for a good while.

Have an easy weekend, cancel the marathon, postpone the cliff climb, take it slow.

I often wonder what people who don’t have to live with disability do with all the extra time and energy that we have to expend on coping with daily living. Sorry to hear about your falls, Mr Fox. I know how much these things can shake you up. It was one fall too many that finally put me in the wheelchair.

Today I will be mostly watching rugby. On the TV this time, as a trip to Cardiff is out of the question. ‘Twill be tense.

    Thanks the support MD’ers.

At least we Neuros always have pain pills ready and waiting. Gave me 15 hours sleep
which was just what my body needed.

As you say we learn from our experiences and even though every breath hurts today I
know it is just the itercostals muscles not a broken rib or anything like that.

I will re-assess all my arrangements and make sure this turns out a learning and
    positive experience.

Sadly you are right and sporting events are more and more difficult. Managed just one day
at the Cricket last year where the crowd was 200 and I had the Trescothic stand totally to myself. Twickenham
with about 80,000 must be a bit more daunting. At least the TV coverage is amazing these days.

    Sure hope you’re feeling better!

I had to take my newest turtle back to his previous owner today for a short holiday because he has decided not to eat, go to the loo, or do anything come to think of it…sad times. Come Thursday-Friday I should know whether or not he’s ok. Other than that, need to get shower gel – weather is telling me not to!!

Use shampoo, or liquid hand soap, or fairy liquid, or be daring and just use water :P

A friend of mine has not yet forgiven them, and is still saying he’ll never go to watch them again. Though if I tempt him with some actual tickets, I suspect he may change his mind eventually. ;)

Sorry to hear about your tumbles Mr Fox. Outside I’m in my chariot so that’s no longer a problem for me but, it is still inside… until recently. My lovely O.T. has got me an ELK lift, it’s a mat that self-inflates using a mini compressor. If I fall, and I have since I’ve had it, I try to drag myself to the mat, position myself on top of it, plug in the hose to the compressor & push each button in turn as four individual levels rise me up to the level of my chair/bed. Getting to the mat itself was the hardest part, it took an hour & I was knackered but, the sense of achievement as I slowly rose up was very satisfying.

Lovely Hayley is on maternity leave now so I wish her all the best. She has been so very helpful & I’m sure she does more than she should. Her last bit of help for me was to arrange more grab rails, the ELK & find lined trousers to wear on me chariot because the blankets weren’t stopping the cold. She researched loads of sites for me herself because we couldn’t find a big enough cozy toes (I’m 6’2″ with size 12 feet, that’s a lot of legs & feet to try & fit in a cozy toes  ).

Woogy, if you have an online link for the trousers or the cozy toes I’d be grateful. I’m not quite as tall as you, but still struggling to find ways to keep the legs and feet from freezing at the rugby.

I’ve had an Elk lifting thingy for some years now, but would never have managed to use it on my own. I’m impressed by your determination! 8-)

Re: What did you do today?

My Dad’s the only peron working local to me now, both able bodied brothers work out of town & so do most mates. So, when I fall I have to persevere or wait for Dad. I fell shortly after being given the ELK & the hardest part was getting to it. Once going up I was very wobbly also but, the sense of achievement was immense. In an ideal world I was told it’s meant to be used with somebody but, that’s not always convenient.

This is the cozy toes thingy I was thinking of trying, it is expensive but, I’m sure you’d suffer the outlay if it keeps you comfortable when out, I know I will. Let me know if you get one & what you think please ;)
