    What did you do today?

I have been a member of a few health-related forums which have a thread like this – and often find them incredibly enlightening and a great way to share things you love (and pick up a few hints, tips or recommendations along the way!)

So what did I do? I bought a bottle of Elderflower Pressé a month ago and totally forgot about it…so when I randomly stumbled across it I thought, “Why not?!”. I expected to drink a couple of glasses – and ended up drinking the whole bottle :( Either way it was nice..

The only other mildly odd thing that happened today was a dastardly confrontation with caffeine. I had a strong black tea – just one cup – and I got the shakes and started feeling soo ill. I knew that caffeine could make you feel nauseous in larger doses, but boy did I regret that cuppa!

Any boring or interesting stories equally welcome! Surely someone is up to something far more interesting than me..

Today I took down my birthday cards and sorted out my flowers – got rid of the dead/brown ones and generally made my room look tidier in preparation for a friend visiting this afternoon. She brought homemade bagels and chocolate cake and we had a good old chinwag!

This evening I am off to bingo – it is at a local warden assisted retirement home and I go to support a friend’s Dad who runs it. Lets hope Lady Luck is smiling on me tonight!

I wrote most of the day and now I’ve got brain mush. Just hope these 10 mins worth of “film” survive looking at them fresh tomorrow, unlike the now deleted 7 mins worth I wrote previously. About to bake coconut and blueberry slices and attempt a vegetarian shepherd’s pie (to prove I can make one that’s just as tasty without meat).

    What about second breakfast?

Today while my sister was here we discussed cities we’d like to visit and then ended up googling where various Kings & Queens have been buried – our Monday convos tend to be quite interlectual.

I then sorted out my BrotherInLaw’s iPod and downloaded the audiobook and put it on his iPod for him.

Watched last nights episode of Selfidges [woohoo, hotting up] and we ‘tyler-proofed’ the lounge ready for the imminent invasion of Nephew, his wife and their rug rat [20-month old going on destructo kid], KFC for dinner and then I will get my hair cut.

Still tired today after a long day out at the England-Scotland rugby international at Twickenham on Saturday. Sorted and uploaded my set of photos (of varying quality) from the match: http://www.flickr.com/photos/15437467@N07/sets/72157632688417682/

Waited half an hour at the doctor’s surgery to have another half-hour of exquisite yet hopefully somewhat cathartic pain inflicted on me. Rest of the day at least will be spent on lovely painkillers, I think.

Aside from that, managed to finish off the current stage of what’s been a complicated and long-running piece of editorial work, to receive the response from the client that it looked “perfect”. Which was nice.

Sarah…I have never been to bingo :( That’s actually one of my NY resolutions (me being more ”adventurous”!) Have a great night!

KissofDarkness…when made right, Veggie Shepherds pie is heaven on a stick! I did my own version of M&S Vegetarian Bake a few days ago and really surprised myself :)

AM…Did you read about the body of Edward III being dug up in Leicester? Apparently he’s going to have his own ceremony at the local (cathedral…I think?!). Must have been a pretty amazing feeling to be an archaeologist at that moment in time..

Petered…I love rugby, but can never get into Union. I am more of a league girl definitely – Warriors! Sorry to hear you’re in pain after the docs, treat yourself :)

    Good idea for a thread.

    Big day today.

Changed the bedclothes, then everything in the machine for a nice big Wash. Then a
nice shower and me in clean clothes. Then get down to that letter from last month.

Never finished the letter, or the kitchen tidy up that was “on the list”. The “Wall” came
down and I “Fell Of the Cliff”, (if you like mixing metaphors). Suddenly nothing is being done
and from feeling really good everything is going wrong. Find I have forgotten to defrost
the milk, wet clothes hanging everywhere, piles of dirty clothes on the floor and it’s all
    not being sorted till tomorrow.

Why is live so complicated ?

Ta Cassini. It was good pain really. Still a bit sore today, with a visit to the nurse later to look forward to (which will doubtless hurt). Apart from that, looks like a normal working day. At least the sun is shining!

When it comes to the rugby, I’ve always been a follower of union rather than league. Being a soft southerner and all that. There’s quite a bit of crossover these days: the first England try on Saturday was scored by a former Wigan Warriors player. Twickenham is a very good venue with regards to wheelchair ticketing and access.

Stop peeking through my windows  My ‘to-do’ list has been renamed “Why hasn’t this been done already get it done now, it is overdue” list wth a side order of “Meh, make me” *sigh*

It’s been a day of phone calls so far, making them. Have arranged for a physio to come out next week, reflexology for tomorrow and a massage in a few weeks. I was given some money for my birthday so it’s be good to Sarah this month!

Had a man out about my plumbing – this is not a euphemism for those that sniggered there!! He is the last in a long line of blokes who have come out to look at it and go back to the company responsible for maintains Housing Association property – this was the supervisor so I have a bit more faith that something will be done this time.

Also, Tesco have just delivered and only one substitute woo hoo!!

I heard somewhere that ATOS have just declared Richard III fit for work. A government spokesman has said that this is a typical example of the type of skiver they’ve told us about, as he’s obviously just been lying about for ages.

Haha us rock solid northern Greggs-loving short people! Yep I remember when I was younger more or less the whole squad turned themselves in for the Union game – Twigamala, Robinson, Farrell… More stadiums should provide better wheelchair access – they really have no excuse nowadays.

There’s nothing new under the sun… Parts of that one may have been recycled out of existing ones to make into something else. I should have been a Blue Peter presenter really. ;)

With Andy Farrell as one of the coaches and his son playing at outside half, as well as the converts in the team, the current England RU team has some real RL influences in it. I remember when all the traffic tended to go the other way, there were a fair few ex-RU players that ended up playing league. [We should have a sport thread somewhere on this forum if we haven’t already got one!]

I have a bit of a thing about venues and access, for music and sport. Some are pretty good nowadays, but others still have a lot of work to do to provide acceptable access. And you often have to know how the system at a particular venue works before you start trying to get tickets.

Meanwhile, back on topic, sort of, today (bright and sunny but cold here) looks like a fairly normal working day, with another trip to the nurse for pain infliction later. Might just treat myself to a coffee at the lovely Italian deli down the road too.

well ive spent the whole day recovering after my 8mth old grandson visited yesterday. the little bugger has started crawling. jesus he can shift. talk about nought to sixty in 3 seconds flat.
however, he did learn that if he pulls my cats tail, the cat will inflict pain on his hand. now i think this is going to work out lovely for me when hes about 2yr old. because i can threaten to feed him to the cat if he doesnt behave  .

Gutted Ireland couldnt pull it together! But am impressed with Scotland’s performance yesterday, hope they’ll continue in the same way.

Today I missed my bus, sunday reduces them to once every half hour if I’m lucky. Second bus ramp wasnt working but helpful driver manoeuvred me on. 3rd fine. 4th bus also had issues with the ramp, 5th already had someone in a wheelchair on. Just wasnt my day. Would you believe I was only trying to get into the city centre then across town? However, the Ice Hockey win made the travel difficulties worth it. 7-2! Caps against the Flyers – last week we lost 7-1 to the Flyers so it was a bit of revenge :) now for a cuppa tea and crochet.

It was an unpretty, old-fashioned kind of match in Dublin, though not surprising given the weather conditions. The match in Paris on Saturday was much the same, though they didn’t have the excuse of the weather. Tense matches, though. And who’d’ve predicted that Scotland would have scored more tries than any other team by the end of the second weekend?

I’ll be going to Twickenham for the England-France match, accompanied by my half-French friend who will doubtless be wearing full French rugby-supporting regalia, including chicken hat, while pushing my wheelchair (with me in England hat). We make something of a strange sight. But it’s always fun going together. We try to outsing and outshout each other.

Today I have been to the hairdresser’s (through the snow) and now have a hip and trendy new hairstyle.
Only kidding, it’s the usual razor job all over!

Gawd I hate buses :( and Hairdressers for that matter!

I had a weird day today. Turns out I have (another) kidney infection and if I’ve not been permanently assigned to the bathroom, I have been trying to cool myself down – to think I don’t have double glazing, no heating, and it has been snowing…how cold does a place need to be?! Besides that, I watched Michael Fassbender on the Graham Norton Show…:)
