Oh, I’d love one if there was a hole for the soles of my shoes, perhaps secured with elastic as I use my feet to help me stay in my chair with the steep hills and if it’s slippery – dangerous, why I have good grips on my shoes. But I do love the idea and I think it’d be excellent for the rugby.

    What about second breakfast?

Well that’s the problem that I face with regard my feet. I’m not sure even with my boots or trainers off that they would fit inside this & I can’t very well ride around without anything on them because I think they’d get cold & then trying to get out of the chair once i get to my destination. I need something to cover my knees & legs though because they really feel the cold. I may email the supplier & pose my problem to them.

Cheers, that looks like worth investigating. I’ve just emailed them for a catalogue.

Last time I was out at the rugby I found myself using a ridiculously ancient, tatty and thin blanket that wasn’t in any way waterproof. I lost touch with my toes very quickly, and they didn’t really warm up till the next day. So almost anything would be an improvement. And you’re right, you really don’t want to have to take your shoes off when you’re out and about in the chair, as you’ll get even colder, potentially get wet feet, and it’s a real pain when transferring.

Today, we got froze to the bone on a supposed warm spring day in town, lunch at a cafe was barely edible, we could not find a single thing we were looking for and I nearly pee-d myself.

I’m off to bed before things get bad :|

For all of you with frozen toes, may I recommend MYCOAL footwarmers. I buy them in bulk from a little shop in Wales called NOT ONLY BOWLS I think. You can get packs of 5 but the more you buy the cheaper they are. I can’t post a link as I’m still confined to bed and using the tablet, haven’t figured how to do links. Search google, then on the website, click on “warmers” on the list at the left. You can ring and order by phone. The owner is really helpful.

    Good luck.

Sorry you are having these problems.

Impending hospital visits and the horrible numbing
cold affecting you. Not a good combination.

    what did I do today?

    I got out of bed.

While that might not sound an achievement or worthy of mention, it speaks
volumes to me about the word “progression”.

I thought the MD advisor was crazy three years ago when she told me to pace things and came
up with her “Alternate Day Strategy”. When you have an appointment or even a thing to do at home,
do not arrange another for the next day. Leave a day for complete rest and recovery in between.

She has been proved right and gradually I have come to accept and adopt this “coping strategy”. However
earlier this month, appointments came on two consecutive days and I had not the energy to bother
re-arranging one of them. This led to three falls in two days and a lot of upset, pain and worry.

That is why after a simple eye test yesterday getting up 9.30 the next day is an achievement.

I am so pleased you are recovering, Mr Fox. Falls and injuries are not so easily overcome by some of us, and I completely identify with your feeling of achievement. I am still in bed much of the time following my strained groin ligament on 3 March, but am now able to get out of bed for 30 mins at a time. It’s the transferring to and from the wheelchair that requires planning and strength. Today I managed to do 60 mins sitting up but was SO glad to lie down afterwards!

We had a few flurries again this morning & I postponed a meeting in town with me Mum because after getting 100mtrs from my bungalow my legs were frozen (strong wind). So, me Mum just rang & told me she’s ordered that cozy toes thingy for me, should be here next week. I shall keep you informed of my experience ;)

    Awe, bless Mum.

I am so fed up with the weather, still having the heating turned as high, still wearing the same winter attire, still feeling hemmed in. We better get a damn fine summer as compensation.

I checked my gas/electric usage by graph on the suppliers website. I’ve used three times as much, compared to the same period last year, January to March. Gonna spend the entire summer paying that off now. Goodness knows what the bills are like for those of you further north, I really feel for you.

Yesterday was gorgeous – okay it was chilly outside but the sun through the glass made the whole house toasty and lifted my spirits … today wind, rain, cold biting wind chill even indoors . As I am u a hill there is not a lot between my bedroom window and The Netherlands!

    It’s called global warming y’all!!

All week last week here it was over 27 degrees, got to 32 on Thursday.. but this week it’s not even 20 degrees :(

    Autumn is definitely here!

We had a couple of days in summer that were VERY hot (broke some records) like 8 January when it got to 45.2 degrees.. remember that well.

Spent most of the day so far on the phone to the landlords, insurers, contractors etc. The hot water cylinder cracked a couple of days ago, there’s been water dripping through the downstairs ceiling ever since. The carpet’s soaking, there’s a row of buckets that need emptying, and we’ve had no heating or hot water since Tuesday evening. They reckon they can’t fix it till next Wednesday at the earliest.

Oh, and the outside temperature today here is 2 degrees. But feels like -4. Happy days.

Welcome back, AP, good to see you aboard.

Today I got a mole removed from my face. was rather fond of it, may have to have it tattooed back on once it heals 8-)

got new central heating last week so have managed to guilt trip my siblings into putting house back together (fix what heating people broke) and a few extra odd jobs done. heating peeps fitted wrong radiator beside stair lift and managed to kill stair lift, have spent the day on the phone trying to get the heating people to come back.

would be nice to do summit fun on days off work

    happy days

I am doing nothing today. Not out of bed yet. Reason.

SALT (Speech and Language Therapist) came yesterday.

Very good meeting, very pleased that she came to me and was so amazingly thorough. Two
hours going into every single swallowing, choking problem and incident, how and why it
might have happened, consistency of foods, times of eating, methods of preparing and eating, postures,
    which chairs, distractions etc…

All good but afterwards, I could hardly talk, was coughing all night.

How can a two hour chat cause such problems but it speaks volumes in other ways.

Sending in a different SALT and a Dietitian next week.

Re: What did you do today?

Sorry to hear you’re not having it great at the moment Mr Fox. My thoughts are with ya mate ;) .

I am & have been very lethargic the past few days, no motivation. Everything seems to take a great deal of effort at the moment but, I need to shake a leg for my beautiful little Estonian is flying in Friday, Kristel. Bar a six month break a few years ago we’ve been talking & seeing each other since December 23rd 2007. I visited her twice before I became unable to travel alone & this will be her fourth visit to see me.

I need to do just a bit more spring cleaning before Kristel arrives. I know she is very willing to help me & she does a lot of things I can’t around the place when she’s here but, it’s equally hard for her (Kristel has Cerebral Palsy & her legs aren’t straight).

So, finishing off the washing today, hanging all shirts on the rail rather than storing them in the usual place (a folded pile  ) & generally making it all a little tidier.

I don’t take a great picture, the camera is not my friend but, I shall endeavour to get a half-decent picture of us both.
