The Google sky map is also free and very interesting if you like looking at the night sky.
I downloaded loads of crossword puzzles for something like £1.99 from Teazel. They’ve proved to be worth the money. :)

The Galaxy Tab is regarded as a great Tablet.

I love the Google Sky Map App too.

Thanks. It is still there and still has all my data. It has the advantage over ICloud that

    Hmm, interesting.

When I went to get my iPad I asked about the ‘bluetooth feature’, and was not happy to hear that it is designed for wireless keyboards/Mice. I wanted to be able to quickly and easily transfer files from the iPad to my mac, and stuff fom other devices to the iPad or Mac.

Maybe Dropbox is the way to go, use it as a family communal upload facility?

Does anyone know if there’s an app I can download for my Samsung galaxy tablet that will enable me to keep weather records [temperature/weather conditions]?

There are loads of apps for weather forecasts and I already have 2 of those but I’d like to plot a graph or chart so I can look at it in the future and see what our weather was like a few months ago.

    Thanks for any helps, folks!

    Very good point.

plenty of weather apps, but not one that shows you the history and trends.

This is what we want, we must keep an eye out.

After that, I had to find one.

    There is one :-

    PocketWeather.

Seems to do everything you could possibly want, with detailed historical graphs
    for virtually any location worldwide.

Available from App store for Apple devices, in a free and paid versions.

For your samsung I assume it needs an Android App.

    http://weather.appdownloadreview.com/online/pocketweather-1-weather-app

On android I can only find an Australian one?

There is also “Weather Time Machine” but that seems to only have USA data.

I Love this app .. TvCatchUp … turns your ipod/phone/pad into a freeview tv … and whats more it has more of the +1 channels than a standard freeview box :D :D :D

And whats more … it is FREE!!

One small advert when you first start up which can be skipped, able to full screen the picture, lists now and next on all the channels available.

It’s awesome, I can snuggle in the bed and watch tv before just rolling over and going to sleep.

Thank You, thank you, thank You.

Had this on my system but never used it, thought it was old clips.

Awesome as you say. All the freeview channels live plus a few others, including film
    channels.

It does truly turn my iPod Touch into a Freeview TV. With the Sky channels on the Sky Go App this is
    just the complete package.

So far I’ve hardly used the iPad for the reasons I bought it, lol.

At present I am debating whether to go the bluetooth app way to switch files between the Mac and the Pad or the DropBox route.

Dropbox only gives you 2 GB free.

Synching files between apple gadgets might be easier on their own iCloud which is automatic and gives 5 GB free.

Hmm, will have to investigate how much you can ‘control’ iCloud, often it seems to be an all or nothing synching. Rather annoying that the iPd bluetooth is figured for wireless keyboard/mouse, rather than other devices, so maybe a affordable app on both devices might be the way to go.

    This is fair comment.

…although completely automatic and and the usual “appletastic”, it does seem to back up what it wants rather
    than exactly what I want.

    Google Translate

    Price : Free

    Just amazing!

This App translates into 31 languages.

You speak into your Iphone, iPad, ipod Touch and it has voice recognition capability to
a very high standard. It translates your phrase either to text or the best of all it speaks it back to you.

The implication is that you take the thing on holiday and when a pesky foreigner starts gibbering
at you just hold the App up to him and hey presto it tells you in your mother tongue. Or whatever
you want to tell the benighted heathen, speak into your ipod and it translates it into his crazy lingo.

As a test I gave it “The boy stood on the burning deck, he played a geame of cricket” (next lines omitted
as pre-watershed). It works, in in everything from Aberzbaijani to Japanese.

You can even adjust it to American English or Australian English input.

    Just amazing. GOLD STAR.

Aha, only just found this thread. Cool

Just a note about the weather apps (Taung mentioned the accu weather app). I noticed after some investigation that the accu weather app bases it’s forecast on a weather station some twenty miles from me, albeit in the same county. Where as the weather channel’s forecasts use weather stations & information taken from my own town. Far more relevant unfortunately still not as good as sticking ya head out the window  . We are short changed compared to the information & apps that are available to our American friends with regard weather apps.

As I said in the ipad thread, Air Video Server: allows you to stream from your pc to your ipad.

Sky Go (updated): now allows you access to some series box sets shown on Sky One, Sky Atlantic but, alas I couldn’t see Boardwalk Empire.

Live Sport On Tv: lists all live sport on tv, tells you the channel & time & it can allow you to add events to your schedule. You an also doctor it to only view the sports you like.

Soundhound (alternative to Shazam): I believe Shazam is limited to the number of times you can use it per month for free or similar, to identify music. Not sure SoundHound has such limits but, I could be wrong.

National Geographic Fotopedia: Theres a few of these I have on my ipad that are constantly updating with more & more beautiful pics. That’s mostly what they are but, beautiful all the same. I love the ones of Above France & Wild Friends

My Vodafone: Only applies if you’ve got a Vodafone tariff but, it helps keep tabs of usage if you have. Particularly if you’ve got a data plan to keep an eye on. Went 500gb over my 2gb allownance when I had no net for three weeks & that 500gb extra cost £15 !

The Football App: Very comprehensive of most European leagues & free !

Team Viewer: Allows me to try & assist me parents & siblings with their pc’s remotely when I can’t sit in front of me own.

KiK/What’s App/Touch: I think you have to pay a small fee for the what’s app messenger & the others are free. The beauty of these little apps is that they allow you to send picture messages via phone (haven’t tried ipad) for a very, very tiny fraction of data rather than a blanket £0.35 per multimedia message.

Osmos for ipad: If you’ve got an ipad & you use headphones this is a must of a game. It’s not your average game & if you’re unsure, look it up on youtube first. I love the chilled out sounds.

If you like the google earth app you may also like the Nasa app too. Many more already mentioned here I like & use.

    Great thread.

    Excellent. More and more Apps.

Love the Love Sport On TV one, that will v
save a lot of time. Thanks.

Just tried the Above France and Burma Nat Geo Foto Apps. Very Good.

    Team Viewer sounds amazing.

You are right Soundhog is better, it even gets tunes you hum into it.

The great thing about Apps is that they conitually improve them and send you
    the functional updates.

Ok, I have an iPhone and I’m not going to list the 80+ apps that I have but a few I really like.

Whatsapp – it’s a messenger which is actually also available amongst blackberry and android as well as the iPhone. It’s brilliant. Me and my best friend (who has an HTC) use it. To me it doesn’t cost a thing as I get a text and web allowance when I top up so it goes onto my MB of net that I get so it’s not like I’m paying per day for the Internet.

Whale Trail – its the brightest game I own on my iPhone. It’s rather addictive (for me anyway!)

My Pain Diary – self explanatory.

    Angry Birds! lol

    Leap Sheep! :)

Shazam – it basically listens to 30 seconds of any song and tells you what the track is. This is pretty awesome.

It’s 5:21 am so I’m done lol xxx
