Today a stranger tried to push me onto a bus. That ever happen to you?

I’m in a power chair, I’m not moving unless I activate the dual magical powers of the battery and motor. I was minding my own business while a woman folded up her pushchair and the driver indicated that’s what was happening. Lo and behold, BEFORE deploration of the ramp, this stranger decided to try and push….was I supposed to levitate on to the bus? I was sitting directly in front of the doors, not stuck. Just waiting. Stranger had watched me manoeuvre out of the bus ‘shelter’ and to where the doors are on the bus not 30 seconds ago. To make matters worse, driver decided this stranger would also speak for me….not a new phenomenon but definitely irksome – resisted catching a toe as I manoeuvred BY MYSELF onto the bus. Driver still asked the stranger if they were getting off at the same place as me.

Then, decided to stop the bus to ensure I had to drive through/over/under a street lamp. First buses, ladies & gents. Beacon of accessibility(!) I’m aware it could’ve been slightly worse where the pushchair wasn’t folded or I not been allowed on, which happens.

Lift breaking down at work saga continues, just to make the day even better…..

If you read till the end, thanks for letting me rant a bit – feeling very :bang: at the moment.

rant away. in the mood for one today lol..

Yesterday I was over an hour late being collected from work by the taxi that I have regular work hire with. had to clock out so couldn’t even gain the time till half five. ;(

same happened again today but luckily my big bro and is mate came to the rescue in a transit van. not very dignified being lifted up into van in public but least I got home.

    hope your lift gets sorted.

oh that sucks! Did they not call ahead and say we’re going to be late??

Ha! There’s 2 – one has been broken for about 2 weeks so the other keeps overheating from the extra use. Promised me they’d have the broken one fixed on mon…then weds…now it’s sat. I said they’d have to move my desk until it’s resolved. Wanted to put me on the 2nd floor in a different department with an even more temperamental set of lifts?!? SO after throwing health and safety and fire evacuation policies at them in my ‘duh, this is common sense’ tone, I’m going to the ground floor :P . If they’d actually spoken to me directly instead of sending 20 emails excluding me and making decisions about me, it would’ve been resolved within 5mins but of course, they all think they know best… :nono:

why make one phone call when they can make 20 emails.

Taxi- phoned my house rather than me 20 minutes before he was due. you know the house I wasn’t in as they had left me at work 7 hrs earlier. just as well someone was in to take said call. I cat wait till I get my drive from wheelchair car lol.

Today I was expecting to have my driveway repaired only for it to be cancelled at the 11th hour due to surveyor issue?

They apparently should never have scheduled the work for today but only realised at 7.30 this morning  :bang:

Good news, lift is repaired :D

Waiting for wheelchair services today, asked for a morning appointment on account of traipsing to the hospital this afternoon (family member visit, routine op). Of course they didn’t show. :? Need to phone and reschedule tomorrow. I can’t contain my excitement at this bit of adulting

I hope the bone scan was ok, Cat.

Today I went to the library to return a DVD and book. It’s a lovely building, just a year old and a nice place to browse the books.

My through floor lift broke down again last week, so I’m waiting for the company that services it to ring me when the replacement part comes in. It broke down last month (unrelated problem) so I’m not very happy. Gremlins must be at work.

Today I have been chasing up the repair to my driveway, had new wheelchair tyre fitted and played music full blast to help me get through monotonous paperwork!!

Today I attended the South East Coast Muscle group. Lovely to meet and chat with some new folk. Topics discussed included emergency admissions and alert cards; PIP; wheelchair assessment process; plus an update on fundraising.

When someone asks me how am I doing or similar I usually say “I am above ground”. It takes the bother out of the conversation. People do have a lot of difficulty with things like that, not knowing what to say.
