    Yaktrax

    hello everyone. :)
I wondered if anyone has bought a pair of Yaktrax to help them stay upright on icy pavements and are they any good? I might go out and get a pair when the snow dissipates.

I brought a pair of simliar things last year from ‘I Want One Of Those’ after seeing them on This Morning. The Yaktrax do look better though!

Mine are ok but only have spikes on the front part, not the heel so I didn’t feel mega safe with them, I still slid a little, but they were so much better than nothing! lol

Only problem I had was stretching them onto my shoes! I broke a few nails in the process too and in the end kept them on a pair of my shoes and just swapped shoes when I got to work. The annoying thing is taking them on and off.

    They are good though

Mine arrived in todays post, the first in over a week! Tried them out this afternoon on snow/ice which to be honest, I would never walk on by choice. They are absolutely brilliant! :D I was able to stride out like the ice was not there and I didn’t feel for one moment like I was going to eat ice. The wife could not beleive how far I went, problem is she might send me to the shops now! :( Might have to push the tiredness angle a bit. 8-)

Very much so Paul, i am divorced and relive on a daily basis my life before all this when i actually lived in the same house and town as my kids.

All morbid musings aside, i will certainly go out and buy some Yaktraks based on your TopGearesque review… ;)

    Re: Yaktrax

I brought some after seeing the posts on here. I previously had ones from the gadget shop or iwantoneofthose.com where they have spike things at the front of the shoe but I still slid and I put my heel down first, not the front of my foot!

I got my Yaktrax off of Ebay… and I got the professional ones with the straps (I didn’t realise!) but glad I did as they don’t come off easily! They arrived ones the ice had gone here (typical!) but I did actually use them the other day when we went to my fiances mum’s as she still had really bad ice. They were really good once I got the confidence that I wasn’t going to fall over (yes…I did freeze in the middle of the road shaking and grabbing hold of my fiances hand telling me we were going home as I couldn’t go any further… even though we were halfway accross the road and it was the same distance back to my car, as it was going to the house!) was funny though as her flooring is laminate and a bit slidy in them so Lee (my fiance) helped me put them on outside and they kept pinging off!

They are really good though, and I gave my sister my old spiky ones.

Hope it doesn’t snow but if it does as least I am a bit more stable!
