Where is Ann Hawkins When We Need Her ?
Ann Hawkins was a friend of my mother, who famously back in the 70’s chained herself to the railings outside
Downing Street in a protest over a disability issue. Nowadays you cannot get near the blighters.I am ashamed to say I do not remember the issue, but remember great celebrations afterwards. Us children thought it was a great day out in the big city acting as food and drink runners. Similarily even today I am not sure our families understand the
full situations.Poor Claire Rayner just before died said that if David Cameron broke her health service she would come back and haunt him.
I am sure Ann Hawkins and Claire Rayner are both turning in their graves now.

Re: Where Is Ann Hawkins ?I remember those incidents well, they humiliated the governments of the day (I believe it’s occurred more than once) although I did not remember Ann Hawkins’ name.
I would not be surprised if the same form of activism did not arise again if the Con-Dems continue to persecute the disabled.
