I have been trying to get a wetroom built for 2 yrs now. what is the best floor covering. I like the finish of tiles but as this is a much larger room the OT wants non slip vinyl. but nobody can show me exactly what will be fitted. builders don’t keep sample don’t want to agree to anything I haven’t seen.
any thoughts.. is the non slip covering very jaggy. is it hard to clean. and more importantly is it easy to shuffle about on.

however, it tends to smell if you don’t mop the floor after a shower. ive also found that as well as regular mopping. I have to get on my hands and knees and scrub it clean. but this could be down to the type of vinyl I have.
have you thought about going into a carpet suppliers and scrounging some samples for comparison.stefan

I did not want the standard wet room non-slip flooring because …… I slipped on it (same with Lino, laminate & parke) so I wanted a bobbly one, they found two and ….. Yes, ‘they’ fitted the wrong one, which I slip on even when it s ever so lightly damp

July 9, 2013 at 3:29 pm #89873Re: Wetroom floorsMy flat used to have Altro Wet room flooring (from a DFG grant). That came in many colours and comes in two type – one with little bumps that I would describe as ‘gritty’ feeling and another which is smooth (which feels like smooth rubber).

I like the smooth one which is often used in pucker accessible toilet/bathrooms. Not so grippy as I can’t pivot transfer – but I never slip.
Tiles are horrific – I slip all the time and have to cover with a mat – even the ones for wet floors.
Vinyl for wet floors can be found in carpet warehouses for sale – we bought some for our bathroom and when feeling it with hands it felt grippy but the moment we put it under foot – it was like ice both wet and dry. Seemed to hold dust and get extra slippy.
My favourite is altro smooth. All other surfaces I use a none slip mat. Altro does stain though if you use hair dye and some comes out of your hair into the shower area!!

…We had Altro flooring fitted in our new wet room a couple of years ago. The bobbly type. I’m pretty happy with it, and it’s about as non-slippy as wet-room flooring can be.

I sent for some Altro sample from a supplier online, not too keen on them. trying to get a look at the smooth.
I will be having tiles in the hall going in to wetroom, has anyone notices a difference in floor height at door threshold?
