In May 2012 I was successfully placed into the ESA [Conts] Support Group
Today a rather heavy envelope was hanging from the letter box, looking all innocent and important. It was the same letter with the same form, the letter states “If you are currently receiving Incapacity Benefit, Income Support (on the grounds of illness or disability) or Severe Disablement Allowance.” Yada, yada, yada … well I am not, my claim has already been migrated.
Somebody boobooed … do I trash it or call them.
I them … well in truth I called my local JCP like it tells you to on the letter, who eventualy got round to answering the phone, they never asked my name nor my NI number or anything just said “Call Atos” and seemed rather muffed when I said there was no number on the letter just the JCP central number. They gave me the number.
I them. A rather soft spoken person answered and asked my name and details and ni number and other questions and then asked how they could help. I said I have been sent a migration pack but am already migrated. They replied if there is a form, fill it in – dismissive was not the word! I said again, I have been migrated already, do your records show that? They said yes but to fill it in, it is a review. So I asked have I bee sent the wrong letter, a migration letter instead of a review letter. The reply was a script as these things are, you may be reviewed every yada-yada-schpiel …. I calmly said I realise that and have no problem but the items I have received all refer to something that has already happened, my claim has been migrated, does your system show I am due for review? [waited in silence, no script for that sort of question].
This is why copies must be kept …. I am glad I did ….. already feeling nauseaous and stressed and mildly
THE NEW SYSTEMS STINKS THE SAME STINK AS THE OLD ONE!!!!!!!!!

I get so mad at this sort of thing
I’d like to say you’ve been unlucky but this is happening all the time – gawd knows when they are gonna sort this mess of a system out…

August 8, 2013 at 4:51 pm #90422Re: The lunacy Begins …AMG has been telling people all year to keep a copy of the forms they send in. Now
she will reap the benefit of her good advice. It does seem particularly pointless for people with incurable, progressive diseases to
be reviewed again and again. Some have even been called for review after just three
or six months. At least in her case she will sail straight through to the Support Group again.

August 8, 2013 at 7:26 pm #90423Re: The lunacy Begins …I have no objection to being reviewed, but not every year. If you are placed in the Support Group, then review every 3 to 5 years. I do object to the dismissive manner of the JCP & Atos people to fob me off with scripted answers.
Letter being drafted to MP, Disabilities Minister, anyone else I can get address for.

August 9, 2013 at 9:35 am #90425Re: The lunacy Begins …I think I might have opened the package, typed a covering letter explaining the situation and returned the whole lot from whence it came [without completing any more forms]. You shouldn’t have to waste your time phoning up unhelpful people and filling in yet more forms all over again. All the stress isn’t good for you. Grrrr….

You are so right, we seem to be revisiting Victorian attitudes where the weak, vulnerable and poor were
deemed to be undeserving of any pity or assistance. This is done under a guise of returning to
a moral and more virtuous age when things were so much better.Brian Cox’s recent documentary on the Victorian Workhouses tried to redress the balance and
made a very valid case that Victorian attitudes about how to deal with the so called lower
classes were entirely inappropriate. He was moved to tears when he observed that in 1911
poor people were treated as Lepers but three years later they were good enough to fight
and lay down their lives by the million.Sorry for AMG in her recurring paperwork nightmare. Totally unnecessary.
