Support Groups for Death of DMD Sibling

    Hi

Does anybody know of any support groups online or in the Essex area. My younger brother who suffered from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy aged 22 died suddenly on the 19th Dec 2010 & am finding it hard to get support, I feel nobody understands.

    :(

    Hi Suzy1984,

I am so sorry to hear you have lost your brother, and being so recent it must be a very difficult and unsettled time. I have come across a website http://tcfsiblingsupport.org.uk/index.html which has helpsheets, a forum, penpal section and other resources for siblings to get the support they need and to chat to people who are in similar situations. It looks like there are regional groups they can put you in touch with.

I will also pass on your post to an MDC care adviser to see if they can suggest other support groups.

People have different ways of dealing with bereavement, no-one can fully understand what you are feeling as it is personal to you but I also think that some people do not know how to show their support and understanding.

Please contact us again if you want to chat or need any more information.

    Take care,

    Sarah

    Suzy,

you may also find some info about support available on this site http://www.carers.org/help-directory/bereavement. This page discusses dealing with loss and has links to more resources.
