I think you have taken the right steps by visiting your GP. There are many factors involved with lack of sleep not just MD, and it is best that he/she gives you that advice. There are many simple steps you can take to help sleep like reducing or removing caffeine, having a relaxing bedtime routine etc. but hopefully your GP will have good news for you soon.
