    Second of three brothers die – DMD

    I am pretty cut up after a visit to my local pub tonight, the ignorant comments from some regular drinkers has left me totally bewildered.

    Duchenne MD sufferer, Daniel Mathieson (22), has already suffered the pain of watching the death of his brothers, 21-year-old John, last month, and in 2010, James (17) his youngest brother.

    One of Daniel’s wishes is to have a holiday at Disneyworld in Florida, he hopes he can make the trip this Christmas.

    The family are unable to afford such a trip, they are appealing to the wider community to help make Daniel’s wish come true.

    How can people be so callous? Especially for a local boy.

    Some people are complete bastards and that’s all there is to it. Not that it excuses their vile behaviour, but it is that simple. I wish Daniel the best of luck in reaching his dream holiday. If I can help in any way just let me know.

    Despicable Ranald….I could never be that heartless.

    I wish Daniel and his family all the best and really sincerely hope his dream comes true. Do keep us posted.

    Could MDC help him get some positive publicity?

    Jealousy comes on many faces, usually masking ignorance.

    With the tragedy this family has endured, loosing two boys and the prospect of loosing the third, along with what must have been arduous torture of getting the help, equipment, finances and so forth all together for a ‘normal’ life. Surely they all deserve something to smile at and something to balance out the pain and stress.

    I noticed that the comments had been ‘disabled’, I assume this is where people were leaving negative comments.

    That is perfectly true Dovito, the guy i am referring to has previous for making a scene, he got chucked out the pub the week before for shouting abuse at a recently bereaved parent. The poor guy was only addressing the pub, to thank them for raising money in his son’s memory.

    I don’t know the family Miracle, i had only spoken to his late brother John a few times at the local college, he was very disabled but lived as full a life as was humanly possible under the circumstances.

    You are right AMG, i’m sure his nurse wife would have been very proud of his comments! (not) The main thrust of this guy’s argument was that, according to him, the family have had a previous holiday to Disney Land through donations. Just how many free holidays did one family expect! That is one reason i have never told them about my much lesser Becker condition, i don’t look disabled and can get away without telling anyone. That is, anyone who only ever meets me on level ground.
