Hi Daisy welcome to forum
I don’t have Duchenne myself but have friends who do and specially in my age group 30 to 40.
What many of my DMD friends and other friends with other MDs feel the miss is of usable controllers or software to continue computer gaming.
As someone with Duchenne or some other MDs is that the fine dexterity and motor skills in hands and arms reduces till very low function. Gaming is important social activity and a big miss.
There is two systems that my friends often talk about
1 adaptable and usable controllers.
2 popular games enabled to work with a eye gaze system. an eye gaze system is a device via a tablet that the user can control with eye movement which is essential once hand control reduced.
I know your project is specifically on duchenne. but another aid that would enhance the independence and privacy of Muscular dystrophy people with more ambient ability is adapted shower chairs. specifically a shower chair that can be easily self driven. Many ambient MD people suffer from degeneration in the ability to sit to stand. so a powered shower chair that is drive able via a control like a regular chair, with the added function of a riser seat that would aid a safe sit to stand independent of third party help.
a chair like this would promote safety, privacy and independence. As well as freeing up carer obligation and time and in alot of situations paid carer wages costs.
