    Pregabalin

    Hello again peeps

Now had the neuro review to address why im hitting a brick wall at present. Yes im progressing more quickly now….there is something I hadnt worked out yet….NOT!

Neuro keen that I avoid continuing to your non steroidals or codeine so im being prescribed the above at a starting dose of 50mgs at night for first 2 weeks. I am keen to know others who use this and how there dose was titrated up? We are aiming for 200mgs twice a day but been warned it has a sedative effect so I may not cope with that much. Not keen only increasing the dose so slowly as it will take me about 3 months or so to get to the planned dose at that rate.

Seeing GP on Friday so going to see if we can move the goalposts a little with the titration.

    Cheers
    Gill

    Hi Gill,

I take 50mg pregabalin 3x day, along with tramadol and celebrex (an anti-inflammatory) for my pain. I find pregabalin really helpful for the nerve pain, I get much less tingling, pins and needles and shooting pain than I used to. I don’t remember really getting drowsy from it, but it did drastically increase my appetite for the first few weeks (good for me since I am classed as underweight!), but it has lessened with time.

    Re: Pregabalin

I started Pregabalin (after gabapentin and amytripoline dint agree) and worked up to 100mg 3 to 4 times a day for really bad lower back and siatic nerve pain. this was back up with dicofenaic. it did take the 3 months to gradually increase dose. once pain was under control with the help of injection into tail bone (after about 9 months) I gradually reduced them and now take either 75mg or 100mg once to twice a day depending on activity level.

munchies. be very carefull on what you eat. I ended up with a cadbury choc roll habit and have put on alot of weight. and the added weight has made getting around harder. just watch what you eat

I definitely agree with what Cat’s said; I was craving junk food when I first went on pregabalin. I wanted crisps, chocolate, biscuits and cake mainly!

    Hi friends,
I’ve just found these posts and would like to thank you for sharing your experiences of pain and pain relief. I am having a lot of pain and take daily Pregabalin which I think does help. But it’s hard – coping with the pain is so difficult and it’s good to know I’m not alone. That’s why this forum is so important. Keep sharing! :ty:
    best wishes,
