No-one knows Stevie McGowan like his wife Beth

This one’s not MD related but a really interesting article.

“No doctor, no nurse, no carer understands his needs the way she does. Beth was there when Stevie, a painter and decorator from Blantyre, started getting pain in his back, at the age of 39. She was there throughout two years of tests, which resulted, finally, in a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. She was there to help him as he started struggling to walk, then to eat and then to stand. She was there with him watching TV in their bedroom the night he said: ‘Can we go home now?’ and she realised he had dementia.”
