hi,
out for a rare day out at the Livingston outlet village, malls and retail parks(its huge guys) being out all day I had no option but to eat all my meals at the center which was fine till I went to get in the car after 9 hrs shopping, snacking eating drinking(soft drinks tea and water I promise) and couldn’t get in the car as my stomach was still too distended and I couldn’t breath crushed up behind wheel. had to sit for an hour with my vent on till it regulated enough to drive. So my question is:- How legal is it to drive using my vent and wearing a headgear that doesn’t harm vision..
don’t know who to ask and don’t want my condition to appear worse than it is or end up having to have some sort of assessment.
ta much

You have to tell the DVLA if you have :-
“a condition or disability has got worse since you got your licence”.
Irrespective of sight issues, if you had an accident you could be prosecuted.
M.D. is not specifically named in their list of “notifiable conditions”, but it does say “other neurological
conditions”. The only way is to notify them then they might still allow you to drive if they assess that
it does not affect your “ability to drive safely”.The consultant suggested I talk to the DVLA in 2005 as soon as my grip started to be affected. I never
drove again but they gave me a nice letter praising me for being responsible. If you ask, the vent will not be the only thing they look at !

nothing for it will just have to give up eating.
Sorry to Cat for maybe bringing her down a bit.
Maybe she did not need, me pedantically repeating the legalese.
Can we look at Cat’s problem of what she needs to do and helping her not
showing obstacles."Even if you are not paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you!".
