I have just had a look at the jobcentre offerings within 15 miles of my address, in the last 7 days. There were 14!
Needless to say none of those jobs were possible for me to do, most were supposedly self-employed NMW rip-off, types. You know the one where you have to have your own car and travel around cold calling? One was even a “zero hour contract” in a cafe kitchen, they couldn’t even guarantee 16 hours ffs.
It is pretty insulting to hear IDS banging on about getting a job, when jobs are as rare as hen’s teeth in my local area, as they are in many parts of the UK.
Happy days

It’s a sad fact but it is true. I have done volunteer work in the past, they are the only places I found willing to take me on.

More and more jobs are either part time or self employed status so that the
employee just does not have any rights or status."Even if you are not paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you!".
June 20, 2012 at 9:14 pm #85706Re: Naff all jobs as usualThe DVLA have told me i should know within the next 6-8 weeks whether i will get my PCV licence back. I should hope so, i re-applied for it in January!
I know i am not really fit to drive for a living again, it will be three years this September since i went off on the sick, which led to my dismissal in December 2009. I would have to play down my BMD symptoms if i have any hope of getting back with my previous employer, they may or may not be prepared to give me the benefit of the doubt.
If they won’t play ball, there is always Stagecoach to try. I probably have an outside chance of convincing them i am ready to return to work. The general public’s profound ignorance of MD might be my saving grace, i can probably tell someone i have “got better” and they wouldn’t be any the wiser. I am still in the fortunate position of looking normal, as long as i take my time and avoid stairs.
One of the main reasons, apart from the muscle cramps due to sitting for hours, was my fear of being unable to get up and down the stairs of a double decker, in event of an incident on the bus. I also required on many occasions, to assist a wheelchair user onto the bus. Could i in good conscience do this when there is a chance i will fall over?

He has been working for about 4 weeks now, but his disabled WTC has not kicked in yet, he is expected to pay bus fares, rent, council tax and food. All on £97pw! He is simply unable to do so and the housing association are demanding he pay his rent arrears. He had to throw himself on the mercy of Remploy, to help pay his bus fares, they have agreed to pay for another week, but after that he will be on his own.
It’s typical, a guy tries to do the right thing, and ends up in penury.
