MSc Health Psychology research around hidden disabilities

Hi everyone, my name is Asha and I am currently conducting some research as part of my MSc Health Psychology course. The title of this research is ‘Exploring identity, disclosure and the impact on interpersonal relationships in a student population with hidden disabilities’. The aim of this study is to gain important insights into the lived experiences of individuals with hidden disabilities in the context of university culture. Furthermore, the findings from this study could potentially aid in how universities support students with hidden disabilities. Examples of a ‘hidden’ disability or invisible condition may include Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Lupus, Muscular Dystrophy, Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Arthritis or Epilepsy. However, this is not an exhaustive list and there are many different hidden conditions. This study will involve taking part in taking part in an approximately 60-minute-long online one-to-one discussion on a platform such as Zoom, Skype or Microsoft Teams that will be audio-recorded. Prior to our discussion you will also be asked to create a relational map, however this is optional, and more instructions will be provided. In order to take part in this study you must 18 or over, be a university and be able to speak English fluently. If anyone is interested in taking part or would like some more information please email me at asharehman@hotmail.com or rehmaa16@aston.ac.uk :)
