MD card.

    MD card.

    good morning peeps.
    ok, as per usual im probably in the wrong place to ask.
    way back in December, I went to a muscle group in Leeds.
    the lady who’s name escapes me, mentioned that we should carry muscular dystrophy cards. now I know I should have asked at the time but can somebody tell me:

    1. what is a muscular dystrophy card
    2. why do we need to carry them
    3. where do we get them from

    The same happened at our SW muscle meeting and three of us were able to show
    our MD cards.

    These are wallet sized “Medic Alert” cards that are to alert people about your condition and
    very vitally the anaesthetic implications which if you are unconscious you cannot do. They
    also have details of your MD consultant and next of kin. I had mine laminated.

    They are included in the “Adult Support Pack”. Actually I lost mine and just phoned London
    and they sent another by first class mail.

    Sure we had a thread on these before.

    think my Neuro gave me mine. probably out of date. but handy to pull out at A&E.

    you could print one up yourself. My neuro filled my details in by hand.

    all you need is your name and contact details
    your GP
    Your condition
    Alergies
    next of kin
    Hospital contacts (He put Respiratory as first contact and then Neuro)
