    Looking for suitable activities

    Hello everyone.
    My name is Madmummy1981 and I am a Carer for a young man with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is Wheelchair bound and is Ventilated via a Tracheostomy. He has a little movement in his hands but that is it.

    He is only 20 years old and I am one of a team who provide 24 hour care. However he leads a very reclusive life and I feel it is part of my role to think of things we could go out and do so he can lead a full life.

    But what kind of activities can we do that will acommodate his Trachy?

    I hope some of you can help

    Hi and welcome to the forum. what region/ area are you near

    there is various wheelchair sports that look fun.

    Wheelchair football requires ability to self drive own chair. http://www.thewfa.org.uk/

    Boccia is a multi ability sport where player can either throw a small ball towards a target ball(other teams) use of a ramp similar to the type at ten pin bowling. and if hand problems the use of a pointer can be employed to push ball off the aiming ramp. http://gb-boccia.org/

    There are board game clubs across country.

    Car show days. always one someplace.

    Hello and welcome. My daughter, who is not MD, spends a good part of her time out hunting Pokemon on her phone. I am not too sure what it is about but apparently they aare everywhere. if he is able to control a phone or tablet connected to a phone, he might find this an amusing pursuit, which at least get him to new places and in to the fresh air.
    Photography (knowing my background it has to be). A camera can be easily secured to his chair and he can take images via a small remote control if need be. These can be downloaded to a tablet or laptop so he can veiw, or alter, then later.
