    Going on holiday

Hello. I have a 2 year old son with CMD and I was wondering about taking him on holiday on a plane? Has anyone ever done this with someone who is unable to sit independently on the plane? Are there any aids to assist with this or how would this work?

Thank you for your support in advance

    Hi Louise

And Welcome on forum. I myself support up with cushions. From my last flight I was sat near a family of five. each parent had two smaller kids on knee with an extra belt at take off. Not ideal for whole trip as comfort and posture support is important. Asking on the links might be helpful. Ask your airline if they have a travelchair like the link below.

    “”Airline approved car seats

You can bring a car seat onboard for use by an infant or child as long as it is approved for aircraft use and has a 5 point harness.

    The car seat must:

    · Be forward facing

    · Fit in the 42.5 cm (16.8 inches) space between the armrests of an aircraft seat.

    · Be certified for use onboard aircraft as follows:

European car seat– the seat must have a CE sticker and

“Certified for use on aircraft” printed on it.

U.S.car seat– the seat must have a FAA sticker and

“Certified for use on aircraft” printed on it.

Customers who have purchased a separate seat for an infant using an airline approved car seat onboard are entitled to a free 10kg cabin bag allowance plus a small second bag and have the option to purchase a checked bag.

Please note: if you are booking a separate seat for an infant (8 days – 23 months) using an airline approved car seat onboard you will need to contact our call centre to make the booking for all passengers, add the car seat details and allocate a suitable seat onboard. Website discounts will be offered for this booking.

If a car seat is being used onboard for a child over 2 years then the booking for all passengers can be made on our website, but you will need to contact us to add the car seat details and allocate a suitable seat onboard.””
