Reply To: Getting Prescribed Medication
I have had issues with vitamin d as well. Despite my Neuromuscular Consultant advising I be on it all year round (us MDers need a higher suggested vit d level than others).
I tried to get a repeat of what I was used to taking but despite blood results from London and recommendation I still had to have 3 blood tests locally. I was told also that I could buy them which I attempted to do but the ones I take are small enough for me to swallow safely and are only available on prescription.
I got them prescribed eventually only to have a similar issue even though I wrote an explanatory letter. The error was corrected but changed to a different dose and a tablet that too big!
It’s all been resolved but I’m guessing that budgets and the ratio of patients in my evergrowing town to a dwindling number of GPs is going to lead to such issues.
