Hi
Hope this is the right section.
Does anyone use any kind of foot up? I keep catching my feet and not lifting them up properly, my neurologist said foot ups would help me but my physio disagreed. Should I buy some myself? Does anyone know much about using them?
Thanks.

I have been wearing these for some 30+ years ( ). They helped me stop tripping myself up, the only downside is finding shoes that have absolutely no heel, and now because my toes curl under my foot as they are slipped into my shoe, I have to wear socks or find something open toed so I can hook my finger through the front to straighten my toes.

These are what i was looking at, but don’t know much about using them.
October 29, 2015 at 3:46 pm #97089Re: ‘Foot ups’I am assuming you are having issues with lifting your foot as you walk, being unable to maintain the right-angle needed? I was referred to orthotics who make the splint from a plaster cast of my lower leg. I got lucky as my left foot was slightly narrow so I could still wear standard shoes (I detest shoe shopping) so long as they are flat.

Oh okay, yes when I get tired or walk a bit over my limit I stop picking my feet up and fall over. I don’t know the terminology, I think the neurologist said it was a bit of a mixture of the tendons being weak and the calf and thigh too. It’s not all the time, I think my physio may be thinking see how long you can go without them, I just worry when crossing roads and things like that though.
October 29, 2015 at 3:54 pm #97091Re: ‘Foot ups’Wearing the splint does change your walk slightly, you need to lift your leg a little higher, some have been known to swing their legs out to the side slightly, because the ankle is in a fixed position.
Not sure what other effects the type of foot up you posted would have. Are they expensive for you? They might be worth a try.

A little pricey and I read people saying they wear out quickly. I see my neurologist in 2 weeks, so maybe I should ask again?
