    Explaining the Condition

I found this very powerful piece of writing called “the spoon theory” please read it and although it was written by a young woman suffering Lupus – it can easily be used to explain to friends and family what it is like to live with a long term illness or disability

I agree, it’s an excellent way of explaining.

I’d been wondering why people were using ‘#spoonie’ on twitter when tweeting about disability. Now I often say (to myself) I need more spoons, or I have to save spoons so I can do something later

~Yeah spoon theory is an interesting way of explaining things – also interesting is how some people are starting to be anti-spoon theory !!! It certainly confuses people on Twitter if you use the hashtag!! It did when I first heard of it lol ! I tried explaining it that way once – and I wasn’t very good and just confused them!! Makes more sense when you read as opposed to my useless description!!

I am aware of the spoon theory, although i am always puzzled as to why we need to save spoons? Why can’t we conserve beers, or fish suppers? ;)

Cheers for that Ranald I hadnt noticed your reply before now I was laughing out loud at the thought. I agree I would rather conserve chocolate or wine. May be a useful way to not letting myself over do it.
