    Energy Costs

A few weeks ago my energy supplier sent me a new contract which was a noticeable increase over the one I had, but that was to be expected. Today it was doubled, and that wasn’t to be expected. It seems that our agreement to pay those amounts was fixed in stone, whereas their agreement to provide energy at that cost for a year is not. It does make you wonder about so many things. Are these energy comparison sites of any value at all? Are contracts only in favour of the energy suppliers? Will the price come down when wholesale costs do? It seems we are just paying these amount to keep their huge profit sheets going.
My whole house is converted to LED bulbs, and other than the TV, and the usual household appliances we have no real electric commitment. I type this with my hat, coat and gloves on because I cannot afford to turn on the heating despite being on pension. The winter heating allowance will not go very far.
Don’t get me wrong, I used to feel comfortable in retirement, now I no longer do. I dread to think how those who are less well off will fare with such an attack upon us.
It will get even worse next year I am sure when the price cap is changed. I would move to a warmer clime but I cannot fly because of MD.

    Life eh?

Have you ever thought of a multifuel logburning stove.

I had one in my last house and I am shortly fitting one in new house.

Where I am probably 500 for stove and 1.5k fitted with certificate

I have access to wood so it’s OK but also buying coal in bulk is not mega expensive.

Great to watch and kick out alot of heat

I have not thought of one of those as getting the wood into the house would be impossible for me, let alone the cost. Bt thank you for the thought.
