    Corona Virus

Hi all, surprised not to see a topic around this. Wondered what tips people had for keeping active whilst gyms are shut and we are advised to stay in?
I’ve got weights and other equipment around the house so when I’m passing them I can pick them up and do a set. I’ve got ankle weights I can walk around the house in and do some leg raises etc.
Still trying to take the dog out for a quick walk and avoiding other people.

Hope everyone is coping okay in what are very worrying and uncertain times!

Hi Charlie and thanks for starting a great post :)

I’ve been careful to keep up with my carer doing my passive stretches to maintain joints etc.
    Some breathing exercises.
    Relaxation

And really important for us who are sitting all the time to increased sitting time. to be sure to lift legs and rotate feet at least once for 5-10 moves every half hour to help circulation.

I am not sitting all the time, and I am married. Thus if I need to keep busy my wife can always find something for me to do.

Be sure to do a light warm up Mike before your chores lol . Seriously cold or sleepy rested muscles are more likely to tire fast or get hurt.

Now you mention dog walking, Charlie, my usually deserted walking area was heaving this weekend. So much for avoiding uneccessary contact! Several time as I moved away, a group of them would approach me to speak to the dog! I also saw groups gathered, chatting, just as though nothing out the ordinary was going on.

Thank you for your advice Cat. I am also keen to make sure I can keep my movement as much as I can. Mr Bond, my cat, has other ideas and wants to use me as a bed.

Something people might find useful, the Neuromuscular Centre in Winsford are doing some seated workout videos that people can partake in

Thats why we called him Mr Bond. All black except a white ‘shirt front’ so he looks like he is in his ‘casino’ wear. And of course, fearless, providing there is a human in the house.
