    Compact Lightweight Powered Chair for Son with CMD

    Hi, my son is 4 and has CMD and we are now at the stage of looking for a powered chair for him. We have looked at many online but they all seem very clinical and bulky.
    We would like a compact, sleek design which my son will love to get in! I understand this may not be available through the nhs.
    We would love some recommendations and maybe some information on personal experiences with paediatric chairs.

    Hi Lydia

    Chairs are always a hard one to comment on as everyone’s needs are different. Where are you from?.

    I play a disability sport which hoist all ages the most popular chairs I’ve seen children in are the Invacare TDX mini and the Sunrise medical salsa mini. Both have a nice petit base and the seating can be customized for level of support in both chairs and also altered as he grows. Both of these chairs are in theory available from NHS but I believe its very much a postcode lottery on what they offer from region to region.

    The facebook groups living with MD and curemd have lots of parents with children so they might have better knowledge.

    Both of these chairs would need a Wheelchair accessible car to transport. Are you looking for something to fold into boot?

    Hi thank you for your reply. We are in Colchester Essex, our local wheelchair services is in Clacton.

    Ideally yes we want something we can fold up into a boot but hey you cant have it all! I will check your chair suggestions out, thanks.

    May be you can try these online wheelchairs uk store for better option where wide range of wheelchairs are there.
