    Coffee to go

I live in a city that has coffee shops everywhere and I’ve bought into the whole coffee (or tea) on the go lifestyle. Naturally, I’m wondering if there’s a cup holder that I can affix to my chair? I’ve had a look at the ones for prams and pushchairs and they seem to come off very easily which is not good if my bag accidentally knocks it, or as it is Edinburgh, venturing over cobbles.

Perhaps this is an obscenely shallow post and I apologise but darn it, I like drinking hot coffee when I’m freezing my ass off at the bus stop.

    What about second breakfast?

The first seems problematic if it isnt a certain wheelchair, the second looks on the shallow side but might be worth a look, I suppose I could adapt it slightly with a strap that goes across so it doesnt rock out if it’s my usual vat size coffee. At the moment I have a bag I bought ages ago, similar to a messenger bag. Instead of one front pocket, there’s two smaller ones. One of them serves as my cup holder at the moment. What do you use (if anything)?

I’ve got one of these http://www.biorelief.com/products/special-needs/liquid-caddy-beverage-holder.html

It didn’t end up working for me – I ended up using it for a remote control holder but it might come in useful at a later date.

This isn’t what you’re asking about but I use it for my coffees:

I really like it and keep it in the basket on my scooter or in my bag. Doesn’t have the glamour of a take away capuccino but is abviously a lot cheaper. The lid needs you to have good manual dexterity to fit and tighten the lid.

Not shallow at all! A good reliable something-or-other to attach to the chair, one that didn’t spill your drink in your lap or on your feet or anywhere else, would be brilliant. It’s just one of all sorts of chair attachments that I fantasise about in my head but don’t have the talent to design.

I’ve found that in my electric chair I can balance a cup or a glass or a bottle fairly firmly between the leg supports. It works best for a pint glass, which is very useful for beer at gigs and festivals. Downsides are that it can look a bit unfortunate, as one brings out a drink from between one’s legs… and there is always some danger of spilling in your lap, which is not the best of fun. Although it is quite fun for everyone apart from the spiller.

I have something similar but dont trust it in my bag with ipod, phone and kindle. Good suggestion anyway and it does save pennies/environment.

    What was wrong with it?

    Re: Coffee to go

Bit complicated… I used to stand up at my dining table to eat and I used to lean on a chair. The problem was that once I had my food in front of me there was nowhere for a drink that was within my reach. I got the drinks caddy and attached it to the chair so that I could reach it without having to shift my feet and get all out of position. However it got in my way as I needed to rest my hand where it attached and I ended up getting annoyed. My need was not conventional so I was just improvising. It may be that I can put to some other use now I don’t stand up that much and spend more time in my chair.

On the whole, I thought it was a good design. It has different attachments to fix it in place and the holder sits in a rest that has a bit of swing on it so it can be angled safely.
