Christmas Spirit

I have just been to watch my granddaughter’s and grandson’s Christmas play. We got there a little early to ensure we could get a space. Knocked on the door asking if we could come in to keep me warm. “one moment I will go and ask” said the woman who answered. A few minutes later. ” No you cannot come in, the wheelchair (I was in a mobility scooter) is a safety hazard, you will have to wait until we open”.
Fifteen minutes later the door opens. “You can come in now, sit where you want. The one in the wheelchair (waving one hand in my direction) will have to sit at the back to keep the children safe.” So I sat at the back in my wheels. My wife and daughter sat at the front. They had a really good view of the children, I saw nothing from the back, as, you have guessed it, everyone stood up to watch their little ones and take pictures.
This is the second time in as many weeks that this has occurred to me. It has also occurred to me that we are not making any progress if disabled people are still being treated in this way, and no one notices.
