    Central Heating

I have not used my central heating this year, certainly not since the price hikes last October. How have any of you coped?

Not using the central heating doesn’t mean I’ve had no heating. I have used an oil filled radiator which I wheel between the living room and my bedroom. I have a sliding door into the bathroom, so leaving the heater in the bedroom is adequate.

This situation hasn’t been ideal, I have still felt the cold but have managed to afford my electricity bill. I find I am having to top up the gas meter as much as previous years, even just using it to run the hot taps!

When do we get a break from this cold? Billy Connelly was right about the Scottish climate. We have July and winter!

It is an appalling situation when someone like you, with MD, cannot afford to keep warm, especially when part of your ‘treatment’ is to do just that. Clearly a government problem as to how they spend oour money. Often it is not as the majority of use might wish.

But we have to accept that we are poorer, don’t you know? So says Bank of England economist, Thomas Moore.

I heard a good one today. The rich get the prunes, we just get the shi*s.
