    care assessment

had a social worker out to do a care assessment (which she really didn’t want to do)

what are they allowed to ask, I felt that the questions not relating to my daily routine or health history was really intrusive and not relevant to my need for care or adaptation to help my carer.

I basically need a specialist bed that neither NHS or council wants to fund. (riser profile bed, turning bed) and charities cant help if I haven’t had a care assessment and the OT and social workers refuse to sign or help look for funding and the charities wont let the MD care adviser sign it off. so Im stuck.

she bullied me into signing a medical release for all my medical records for the gp and specialist I see. but she didnt bring the leaflet explaining what they intended to do with the info or how it would be stored.

Oh dear – I can understand your reaction. I have never had a care assessment but can imagine them to be quite intimidating. It certainly does not sound ‘right’ that this Social Worker can ill-prepared to properly answer your queries and give you the leaflets and info.

Maybe drop a line to the MD Advisor? I know you id they cannot help with the bed but they maybe able to help with how you’ve been treated, or even explain the things the SW could not be bothered to.
