    Car washing and Motability

I am about to take delivery of a car on the Motability Scheme and although i am delighted to have my licence back and am keenly anticipating the return of my freedom, i have one small concern.

How do we disabled folks keep our cars clean? I am sure many of you are unable to get out the bucket and chamois of a Sunday afternoon and i have always been too scared of scratch damage in an automatic carwash in the past, am i going a little OTT here?

I had thought that maybe i could get away with a fortnightly/three weekly handwash at the local petrol station, it is yet another expense i could do without TBH, what do you guys do?

When I had a car I used to pay me little brother with four cans of beer. Only ok if you have three brothers I guess

I have always taken my motability car through car wash but tend to use the ones that you move through on conveyor belt thing as we don’t have to remember to remove the aerial.

You will find your first car is like having your first kid you feel you want to do everything right. my first car I got properly valeted by guy in a mobil valet van. in and out. once a month.

Never been too fussed on the drive thru kind as you have to remove areial and one damage my wing mirror once.

now on car 5 and lucky if I do it 3-4 times a year. When I do go I look go for the waxed foam hand jet wash kind normally about £3ish I find these better value and a better clean than the automated ones.. Also think it last longer too than the supermarket ones.

I find it harder to do the inside and even harder to get a volunteer so ive banned eating in the car. :P Its just too expensive now for a full valet.

Thanks for your thoughts Sar, Catatude and Woogy. :)

I had a Motability car a couple of years ago but had to hand it back when my licence was revoked, back then my wife was on hand to help out but she is history and i am a wee bit less able now into the bargain.

I would not be that bothered about washing the car but the seagulls around here will make short work of the paintwork if i just leave it to the rain! ;)

Our local Tesco Extra has some eye candy who hand wash cars for about £5 … they have always been very helpful.
