    Can You Recommend a Computer Mouse?

    Hello Everyone, I am looking for an alternative to a standard computer mouse. The gadget I am looking for should be usable with the left hand.

    I find it increasingly difficult to press the buttons and use the scroll wheel. My forearm and fingers are getting sore.

    Does anyone use a mouse with a trackball (like the Kensington Orbit Mouse)? Would you recommend it for users with muscular problems?

    I use a Mac so I may not be of much help. I use their mouse which allows for ‘stroking’ to move the mouse pointer or change zoom, and the mouse buttons are very easy to press as they are very , very light. In addition I also have a trackpad on another Mac, which lets me use a finger to move the pointer and again the ‘buttons’ are very easy to press as they are built into the plate of the pad.
    May I ask if this is for home, work, or both? If it is for work then the Access to Work team may well be able to help you track down a useable solution.

    Hi Mike, thanks for taking the time to reply. I am using Linux so there might be some problems with configuring the Apple mouse, although I can see on the internet that some tinkerers managed to make it work.

    I have ordered a trackball mouse and will see how it works.

    Thanks for bringing the Access to Work grants scheme to my attention. I had no idea such a thing exists.

    what about a touch pad similar to that on a laptop.

    For anyone considering a Kensington slimline trackball mouse. I found using it puts a lot of strain on my wrist. The trackball itself is huge, larger than a golf ball.

    I didnt get on well with a tracker ball either. the height and angle was wrong.

    Hi, Have you tried the finger trackball type mouse. I have been using for some time and find it ideal. You can rest yor arm anywhere comfortable and just use thumb and one finger. Comes in corded and cordless versions. Link to amazon below (hopefully :-) )
