Can my parent get cadets allowance?

Hi guys, I’m sure someone here will know.

I currently get the higher rate DLA, this has a mobility component and care component, I get that extra money for the support group too.

However my parent who cares for me isn’t working now and we was wondering if my parent could claim carers allowance?

Does anyone know if claiming carers allowance will have an effect on my dla? For example will I lose the care component from dla?

    Thanks for any help

Claiming benefits is a nightmare as we all know. But here you have two separate benefits, that are claimed by two different people. However, if you look here

    https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance

and the associated links you will see that it it could be possible, depending on all the relevant factors, that there will be no change to your benefits. Clearly, only the Benefits people or perhaps the CAB can properly advise you. I would suggest the latter as they are more likely to give you an unbiased view. Got to be worth looking at. Remember though a key element of Carers Allowance is that the carer provides the car for at least 35 hours a week.
You may also wish to talk to the advisors at the MDUK Helpine who are very knowledgeable.

Yes anyone can claim carers allowance for you as long as caring role is for min qualifying hours (35). Your parents also need to be under pension age. I used to get DLA with my mother claimed carers allowance most of my life, until she reached pension age and wasn’t then able to.

Claiming carers allowance can effect other benefits they may claim. Ie job seeker allowance or social security. what they get in one benefit they sometimes reduce in another. They can also still work as long as making less than £128 a week.
