Can I get prescription toothpaste?

    Can I get prescription toothpaste?

    Hi, so I get a lot of acid coming back up through my mouth at night.

    I was wounds ring would prescription toothpaste help prevent damage to my teeth?

    Also how would I go around getting this?
    Could I get this from my doctor?

    yes (well in scotland yes)

    I use duraphat prescription toothpaste as the vent causes acid re-flux it was breaking down teeth. and it really has helped.

    My dentist hand writes the prescription but the last time I was at GP they put it on repeat.

    its about £15 to buy. the mouth wash is also very good.

    Yes. Just as Cat says, Duraphat!

    It is very good, I get it on prescription too.

    Extensive stuff. Used to get two 75 ‘m tubes per
    prescription now get three. There are two strengths 2800
    and 5600ppm.

    I also get durophat prescribed my my dentist – it was recommended by the hygienist.

    Would I be able to ask my doctor for this or would I have to ask the dentist first? Just explaining everything out to the dentist whereas the doctor already knows.

    I have got it from dentist for a couple of years.

    Actually, it has not stored the acid reflux. One month ago
    I was prescribed Omeprazole which has stopped the acid reflux!
    Magic Pills!

    Probably if you explain why you need it your GP will be Alright. once the enamel is gone its gone so better to protect. It might come down to pedantic rules. dentist or hygienist might need to prescribe it first.

    and as Mr Fox says. it might be a god idea to address the acid with “magic” pills as well. as for both together.

    I would talk to your dentist anyway. mine knows more than my GP about MD teeth related symptoms.
