    BLUEBADGE Scheme for parking

Bluebadge Scheme is a country wide scheme to aid qualifying disabled or elderly people to park nearer their destination in a space with suitable access for exiting the vehicle. Below is the government web site to renew or order a new Bluebadge.

It is now increasingly common for local councils not to do the initial application as they once did. I would urge anyone who is due to renew badge to only go directly to either their local council web site or gov.uk. Renewal prices vary across the country but seems to be on average £20. Be aware of any potential scammers online or brokers taking a fee to complete the process.

Having just renewed my own badge below is what I was asked to upload direct to the gov website. I then arranged payment online direct on my councils own payment website.

ID:- Birth Certificate. Driving Licence or Passport.
Proof of benefit:- your DLA or PIP which clearly shows points breakdown.
    Passport size picture
Proof of address:- Letter or bill showing address ie council tax.

Its worth noting that in order to reduce admin costs more and more councils have ceased issuing renewal notices when a badge is due to expire. My own council estimated turnaround for a badge renewal is 10-15 days after clearing assessment. Watch your date.

Just renewed mine online. Quite painless and efficient. Cost of £10 but so worth it.

I am going to apply for a blue badge now, having been too proud (idiotic) to apply for one previously! All this common sense is quite unsettling to me.
