    HI martin welcome to forum

Thinks its a fear most of us have. I arm myself with gadgets/iphone. Have a doorbell to call people within house. When time comes I will upgrade to an Alert system attached to a button on wrist or chain to call Council Emergency System.

I have been looking into voice tech like alexa as well.

Thanks for your reply. It’s horrible being stranded. How old are you and what type of MD do you have. What about alela/echo connect or voice recognition hardware. I was screaming out for my neighbours the other day. I have ideas. I am 54with Becker

Hello Martin and welcome. I too rely heavily on my phone. Although I am married with seven children I often spend long hours on my own, especially at night, and with my last child about to move out this problem is looming larger for myself too. My phone goes everywhere with me, and I do mean everywhere. Having has one or two near death experiences in my life I am acutely aware of the ‘what if’ situation. I always make sure my phone is charged, and it is always plugged in at night. I have my tablet with me in case the phone does not work, and I ensure I have a strong wifi signal wherever I am by the use of range extenders. In essence though, such emergency measure are totally reliant upon my network being fully functional, and that may not always be the case. I also have a landline phone as well. Its important to make sure you have all the relevant numbers stored and ready to hand in whatever phone you use at the press of a button or two. Believe me even that may not be enough should you have something seriously wrong with you. When my bowel perforated the pain was so intense I could not function, I could not use a phone. Fortunately I was not alone then, but I could have been. I believe that there are devices being developed that learn your routine, so that if that is significantly changed then people are alerted immediately without your intervention. The closest thing to that is of course the wearable alert button. I am not sure how much they charge for those in your area, but it might be worth looking into. here that only works if there is a member of your family who can be called to look after you. If you have family nearby have you thought about say an hourly text to them to confirm all is well? During waking hours it might give comfort to you and to them.

Im 37 with CMD rigid spine.

I dont myself have Amazon echo but friends do. The safest option is probably the councils alert system wear you wear a call button on arm our around neck in order to call in emergency.
