Hello, if you have an electronic profiling bed that rises/lowers and sits you up that you find useful please can you post the model & make for me. Also if you find your mattress comfortable is it foam, pocket sprung or air filled please? Are you able to fit an electronic leg lifter to your bed or does it lower almost to the floor to get your legs in pls?
Thank you for your help, really struggling at the mo to maintain bed independence and mattress comfort.December 14, 2015 at 9:42 pm #119437Reply To: Beds & MattressesCabot recommend too highly the Sidhil Solite profiling bed.
Get on at one height off at another. Instant response but completely solid
and supportive. Contour memory foam mattress that has some sort of air flow
in summer but seems extra warm now.http://www.sidhil.com/shop/beds/solite-uk-4-section/
Their “Safeside ” attached safety grab rails have become a cual
part of getting in and out of bed."Even if you are not paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you!".

I have often wondered if it is possible for the MD peep to self use a track hoist and sling.
My bed goes nearly to the floor. Upstairs I use a walker to get around. this is my method if carer not around of getting in.
Lower bed all the way and either kneel on bed and use headboard to steady to get far enough in to centre of bed
or.
sit as far in as possible. grab sock and pull right leg up onto bed. then use the momentum of turning/sitting to swing left leg up. followed by a fair bit or wriggling to get in the right spot and the covers on..
by this point the phone or door goes or the pesky tv remote is other side of room and I have to start again

Useful technique tips for getting into bed thank you.
Really made me laugh with ‘things’ that just crop up in life just to make sure you can go through all the transfer effort twice! :0)Great tagline too, so appropriate, love it! :0)
December 18, 2015 at 10:48 am #119578Reply To: Beds & Mattresseshi yep gods a funny guy lol I did try and teach my late cat to fetch but you can guess the look I got.
bed is called the “residential” very compfy. worth every penny I spent. its a small double giving me extra room around it and lets “friends” stay over. bugger to find sheets does everything but turn. but I found that a firmer non sprung mattress was easier and I was nervous that the turning function would trap the vent tub and either kill me or my vent.

Bed sheets I have are a satin material to help me move across a little. OT has just provided slide sheet to try see if helps. I first of all thought.. Oh no! another thing to have at the ready and need to get rid of when you’re finally settled in, but persevering and hope it’ll help :0)
Your bed looks good, I need a bigger double or 4ft bed too. Agree, lots of good reasons for a bigger bed :0) .. plus space for massage therapy or physiotherapy on bed, I tuck sheet into other side of bed (needs to be a good distance to do this, not next to me) and hold onto this to try and drag myself over onto my side if my back is hurting during the night.
I’m struggling with mattress comfort, think I’m so used to pocket sprung. Foam ones feel too firm, need softer but also don’t want to sink in and be cocooned and then can’t get out!
It’s beneath my cat to give me a paw! He might give me a meouw if he hears me struggling to move or cursing but I’m pretty sure that’s just a shout of ‘don’t disturb my cat nap’ :0)
December 19, 2015 at 5:09 pm #119610Reply To: Beds & MattressesI was really skeptical about moving away from a traditional sprung but with the movement of the bed they dont last long. my mattress is firmer at the sides so it dont collapse when sitting on edge. If I remember right the centre insert depends on your body weight. with all foam they do soften with your body heat. I have also had not sores on hip since getting the medipro foam mat.
I love my small double. I like to lie in middle but the bed isnt that wide that I cant reach my bedside cabinet to pull me the rest of way onto my side. wish I had spent the £175 each side on the half grap rail.
just remember whatever bed you get… the best section belongs to the Cat.
