    Always bloody ill!

Hello! Me again! I have LGMD2i (R9). I still walk, sometimes use a scooter to save energy. I work full time as a teacher. Here’s my issue- I come down with evey virus going. My bloods are ok. I dont seem to get anything serious like pneumonia (thankfully), but I just get ill constantly. And get weaker when I am ill. And more tired. Anyone else get this? I currently have laryngitis. Eurgh. Hello Me again! . Frankly I know what you mean. I am, well, getting on in years and aside from my MD, I have diabetes, not sure what variety, I have a rash which comes and goes as it feel, one that my doctor has never seen before, a vitamin B and D deficiency, large lesions on my ankles (courtesy of fostering a chicken), highish blood pressure, scaphoid pain, tri geminal neuralgia, periodic attacks with Vesitbular Neuronitis, perforated bowel. Those are the ones I remember. I have had a near fatal attack with Covid at Christmas, I have had various other things linked probably to MD, as well as lots of short tern cold type things. The last one I have had was laryngitis which lasted over four weeks (sorry), chest infection, cough, general malaise.
The thing is I did not have a day off sick at school or work until my late forties. Roughly around the time I was diagnosed with MD. Now it seems all downhill. Just have to keep fighting it as you must.
Growing older is very popular but frankly I cannot recommend it.

Hi Mike, have a look at symptoms of gluten intolerance and celiac, I’m gluten intolerant which do cause me to have, skin rashes on my feet and lower legs and lot’s of other problems as well as making my muscles worse. I’m not of course suggesting that is the cause of your additional problems but it’s interesting I will say if nothing else. You can be tested but like me you don’t always get a positive response for, my neurologist said although I tested negative for celiac it doesn’t mean I’m not as it often gives a negative result. But you know how things affect you. Cc

Hello Cat and thank you your interesting observation. We have a fair bit of gluten intolerance in our family, but of course I never thought it wuld happen to me. nothing ever does, as I am fit as a fiddle!! I have had to move to brown bread away from white because of my diabetes, but going back in memory I have had a fair degree of tummy problems and need to take Buscopan.
It is certainly something I shall look into, many thanks.
