YakTrax

I was wondering if any of you have found YakTrax to be effective on icy pavements?

I have ordered two pairs and am concerned they may fall apart after repeated contact with clear bits of road. Are they only really useful when there is snow or hard-packed ice?

I am scared stiff when trying to get to and from my car, my balance is totally compromised in this sort of weather!

Btw, i had winter tyres fitted to my Motability car, they were pretty expensive but the traction and braking is fantastic! I don’t really fancy being upside down in a frozen field.
