Snow shoes can be great, but it’s important to be aware of the possible pitfalls.

I remember many years ago proudly walking through the Durham ice and snow thanks to the metal coils attached to the soles of my shoes. And then the moment I stepped onto the shiny floor of Woolworths (I told you it was a long time ago), I went whoosh and ended up on my backside.

I’ve just got some of the yaktrax with the metal coil

they fit nicely on my skechers trainers, but are a bit tricky to get on as the rubber takes a bit of steching to get over the soles. I’ve got no chance of taking them off to go in a shop and getting them back on again when I come out, so I’ll keep them for getting from front door to car!
