    turny bed thng

anybody got any gadjets for turning in bed.

    or

a bed that rolls you over wallace and grommit style.

I have found one that the height can adjust like a hospital bed but looks like a homely domestic bed but way too out of my price budgjet. I need a small double.

these beds look ideal. I would really like the hi/low function and the night turn function as getting sores on hip.

what kinda price are we talking.

I like the Saturn, Medway and Thames beds. need a 4 foot but :?

I have supposedly got the pressure care mattress but I still needed a mattress topper to make it better to lie on. In terms of price I don’t know, my OT wouldn’t tell me. Vix might have more of an idea

    Hi! All,

I am interested in any advice re turning in bed etc.. As I’m often part or fully paralysed when asleep sounds funny but thats the way it is. My only help so far is relatives having to wake up and pull and tug to turn me over which can be dangerous and painful due to sub luxing of joints.

My top tip is satin sheets not faux ones but real silk satin as they are so slippy when I’m weak they help me to move, the bedding sakes person recommended them to me because of my complaining about it being difficult to move in bed, they really work!

I would ideally like a multifunctional bed that adjusts head & foot rise but a bed that could aid me be able to turn myself would be Amazing! Do they come with built in tellies?

I have a home visit from the OT on wed, what do I have to do? Say? Ask? to stand a chance of them recommending/funding one?
Any advice would be appreciated! :ty:

Yes, I would start the ball rolling by talking to your OT. Write down the reasons why the bed would suit your needs. Stress the danger aspect, the fact you are needing to wake up relatives to help you etc. If you get pressure areas, mention those and anything that having a multi-functional bed would improve. For example, the head tilt meant I could put an end to reflux and indigestion without having to call on my parents and now carers three or four times a night.

I don’t know if you would make use of this but the Baltic has a programmable box that will turn you when you set it to. I always use the handset as I don’t know when in the night I may need to adjust position – every night is different – but I would imagine it is really useful for some.

Good Luck and let us know how it goes :)

Thanks for the advice, I will, the programmable option sounds perfect.

My OT visit is in Friday. I have a feeling its not the OT service in this area that do beds but the district nurse. but will try and put my case. I have also seen this other gadget that works like the pillow lift. its a wide band that you lie on and when you want to turn you press a button and the band fills with air gentle rolling your torso over. this could give me more scope and possibly manage to buy my own bed.

good luck with your OT visit Shellybear
