I have been telling people about the Genius Bar without actually experiencing it.
This is the free Apple technical support in the Apple Shops for all their Apple devices.
Last night my IPod Touch just went quiet, the speaker was not working.
Went on the Apple website found the local store, found the “Genius Bar”, found an
available slot today at 2.10 and booked it. Been there today problem solved in eight minutes flat no cost to me.If there is a repair charge applicable they tell you before they do it. Most things tough they
can cope with free of charge in this 15 minute slot."Even if you are not paranoid, it does not mean they are not out to get you!".

3 months ago I bought on e-bay a iPod touch with faults for £ 80.
When the speaker died yesterday I took it to the Genius Bar expecting to pay
for a speaker repair. They did not want to look at my e-bay paperwork, just the serial numbers and came back and told
me that the repair was not feasible so as it was still under warranty they would be pleased
to give me a brand new one and they apologised for my inconvenience.Time to shut up and walk away with a brand new 32 Gb, £ 250 iPod.
Life is good sometimes.

February 21, 2012 at 1:19 pm #84618Re: The Genius Bar..My out of warranty Mac failed to boot and took it to the Apple store – they got it going, then it broke again, took it back to genius bar where they twiddled stuff and got it going – then it failed again when I got home. They said that after three attempts they would just replace with the latest model! I got like nearly £800 of free new computer!
I had no Apple care or anything! That was the model I sold last year to half pay for my new iMac — so over about ten years I’ve only paid about a third of the price to have the latest models !! Got a fab lecturer in education discount that Apple do (if you volunteer or do work for Uni’s on social work programmes for example they ’employ’ you and as such you get the Apple discount of loads off – WHOOP).
Touch wood – I have never had a bad experience with Apple in 25 years … glad others find good service :-) pays in the end even if products are higher priced than we would like.
