The dog that might help find new Duchenne treatment

The dogs carry a mutation in a gene that is equivalent to the human dystrophin gene and are an excellent animal model for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The scientists hope that understanding why these two dogs did not develop the typically severe features of this condition might open the door for the development of new treatment approaches for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
