Team Top Goon enter the danger zone

Team TopGoon are taking part in a 70-team car rally from Calais to Barcelona to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign

The rally starts in Calais and continues down through central France and on to historical Tours, before a thrilling drive through the mountains of Auvergne and over the Millau Bridge and on to Nimes. On the climactic final day they will drive down the coastal road, splitting off at Perpignon to climb the Pyrenees into Andorra and down to Montserrat before heading on to Barcelona on the Costa Dorada.

They have entered the race with a 10 year old Volvo which they bought for less than £200 as stipulated by the rules of the rally. It has since been converted with loving care memorialising the classic 80s movie, Top Gun. As Aaron, part of Team TopGoon, says:

“What sort of Volvo F-14 hybrid Banger Rally car would we have if we didn’t have missiles?”

Only days away from the beginning of the race they are making their final preparations readying supplies and installing an inverter so they can make pot noodles and cups of tea and coffee while cruising along at Mach 2.0. They have their replica Top Gun badges and ex-USAF flight suits and they certainly feel the need for speed.
