No idea how to cope with this, how to explain to my little boy and how I make his life as normal as possible.

    Hi kathyn

Yes I fully understand your situation as a parent myself.

I think you should speak to your gp how you feel and see what help is available.

Join duchenne groups and get advice from others.

Hope all works out as best it can for you and your son

I’m sorry to hear you’re finding it tough to cope with! We have a Facebook group for parents and there are lots of parents of boys living with Duchenne in there so if you use Facebook, I’d recommend joining – https://www.facebook.com/groups/mdukparentsupportgroup. You can also always call the MDUK helpline for support on 0800 652 6352

I’m so sorry to hear that your son has been recently diagnosed, my son is now 13 and was diagnosed with Duchenne as a a baby. If you’re on Facebook I admin the Duchenne Parents Support Group, we have over 1000 members, all parents of those with Duchenne in the UK and Ireland. You certainly don’t have to go through this alone x
