    #Should I Stay Or Should I Go?#

In the words of the great Clash, should we stay or should we go? I’m talking about the EU of course.

I’m just curious to hear the opinion of my fellow wobblies because as disabled people there’s a very real chance that we will be one of the minority groups that will suffer (even more) disproportionately should we leave the EU.

I’m sure everyone’s got an opinion. I was strictly in the ‘leave’ camp until I explored it a little more & now I’m unsure. Believe it or not, we as disabled citizens do have a certain amount of protection in the EU from our own government. You think it’s bad now, it could get much worse.

Or do we vote for the greater good?

My personal choice is more complicated as my spouse is not English & we don’t know how that will affect us but, she’s told me to vote ‘leave’ with her blessing, should I so wish to do so.

    Over to you guys…

Go… if we stay what little changes the Eejit at number 10 has tried to get us will be squished and make no difference when they take our powers to set pension levels and social care.

Immigration subject. always going to be wars or humanitarian events people will always be able to marry and come in.. the world still has to turn wither we are in or out. but as it always is the way it will be the true couples the real relationships like yourself and your wife that will suffer and have to give blood and jump hurdles to prove honesty of the situ. dodgy folk have and will always get in.. its the honest folk that have bother.

Stay for me. Won’t go into why I’ll just leave my opinion for the record and completeness. :)

    Thoughts on this?

I’m de-flippin-de-floppin over it … Business/trade I can see the benefits (after all it was originally a ‘common market’) … But for everything else then out.

The EU is going to change over the next 5/10/15 years, more countries battling to join (for the benefits without affording the fees), their admission will alter the share of decisions … EU restrictions will become more restrictive and more expensive, there will be more division with people., more people movement, less even-ness and more wastage.

The World is changing, there are other areas where UK can trade … The EU is not the be all nor end all.

Stay or go, it will cost us billions, either way.

Very, very complicated with lots of politicians
spinning away at the truth however it suits them.

Maybe we should focus on one thing only, what is the
    best outcome for disabled people?

Taking powers back from Europe will result in our
Governments being able to do exactly what they want. Some people
have suggested that the current government has a negative ideology
on disability and benefit issues. Maybe not a good idea for
them to have free rein on whatever self serving ideas their
slimy backers and puppet masters come up with.

This sketch rather humourously sums up the fears I have with regard leaving the union. It’s a take on the famous scene in The Life Of Brian (bloody brilliant film btw) where they discuss “but, what have the Romans ever done for us?”

This is my sole biggest fear, abandoning the European Convention On Human Rights (EHCR). I think it unwise to dismiss this & suggest that cameron & his cronies can’t do any worse because quite clearly they’ve considered doing so. Charging us if we dare to appeal benefit decisions for one.

Like I said, for the greater good though, do I vote out? Or for the sake of the disabled & the ECHR, do I vote in? I’m undecided & deeply concerned.

theresa may wants us to stay in but, still abandon the ECHR. Yer, right. No thanks lady. She’s gone on record as stating that purely because she blames the ECHR for her own failings in deporting terrorists & hate preachers. Merely deflecting the blame instead of accepting it.

In or out – it’s becoming the lesser of two expensive evils :(

    http://blacktrianglecampaign.org/2016/04/29/disabled-people-are-stronger-and-safer-in-eu-say-leading-academics/

Pieces like this highlight my dilemma far more eloquently than I.

And pieces like this http://www.disabilitynewsservice.com/government-is-failing-disabled-people-on-discrimination-say-peers/ & this http://www.disabilitynewsservice.com/dwp-is-deliberately-misleading-benefit-claimants-over-pip-deadline/ advocate my anxiety.

    I remain undecided & concerned.
