    Portable wheelchairs with rise function?

At the moment I have an Excel G3 manual that has to be pushed if I travel by plane or car. Day to day I am using the Quicki Salsa M motorized wheelchair. The Salsa has a rise function so I can stand out of it but it is heavy and massive and I would need a specialized car to transport it.

Does anyone know of portable motorized wheelchairs with raise functions?

I don’t believe a manual chair with rise function exists. The closest is a shower chair with rise which costs about as much as a power chair (and is for an attendant to raise and lower).

With regards to power chairs/electric, by nature of the ability to rise, safety requirements require a strong/large base to ensure the chair doesn’t fall so you won’t find a travel power chair with raise function (and I believe every chair with raise function can not be folded or taken apart because of the same reasons). My wheelchair clinic confirmed this to be the case.

Most people on here have chairs with variable functions/ power chairs and ramped access vehicles for travel (and flight wise, people tend to not go or risk putting their existing chair on the plane (or hire a chair at their destination – but that’s rare as people with MD generally need specialist chairs which aren’t for hire).

Can you not get a wheelchair accessible car?

was at nadex on Thursday and had a go on the REAL 6100 plus by Mercado Medic.

Designed to be a school/office and house and kitchen chair. is relatively light and very compact for a riser power chair. not designed for outside due to soft covers and little protective covering but the the salemen said it would deal ok with very flat areas ie no kerbs. would manage reasonable ramps so you could potter in the garden in a nice day.

also comes in kids sizes and gos up to a good height. you could reach high cupboards or clothes rails no bother. but with anything it cost an arm and leg but not much more than the outdoorsy riser chair I have at work. show price was Ithink the show price was £3000ish (dont quote me  ) and fits much better at a desk and turns in a much smaller turning circle. would have tried for this chair if I had seen it last year.

no head rest which would be a draw back to some . myself included. possible can be added as an option. as chair was very adjustable, seat even tilted for pelvis comfort.
