Pfizer and Oxford Vaccines – Becker MD

    Hi,

Has anyone who suffers from Becker MD had any advice on wether it’s safe for us to receive the Pfizer or Oxford Covid vaccines. I’ve looked on the gov’s website and there was a warning about people with poor immune systems. Can anyone let me know please?

    Many Thanks

Hello and welcome Iwan. The latest guidance from MDUK is here https://oldsite.musculardystrophyuk.org/talkmd/. Sadly it does not answer you specific question though. Might I suppose that as well as whoever may crop up herr that you contact your neurosurgeon and ask their advice. Hopefully, someone will come along with more specific guidance.

    Hi Mike,

Thankyou for your welcome and thanks for your response. I’ve managed to get hold of my neuromuscular Care advisor and the advice I’ve had is that it’s safe for me to have either vaccine. I hope this will be helpful to other MD sufferers as I would think the advice would be the same form their neuromuscular advisors / surgeons.

    Many thanks and keep safe!

    Iwan

So glad you got the information you need. As a corollary I was searching to see if the vaccines were suitable for vegetarians, and so far it appears they are. I have not been able to confirm that for the Moderna vaccine, but I believe that that one is not yet available anyway.
