Muscular dystrophy diagnosed in my adult son

My 32 year old son has just been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, don’t know which type yet. Still undergoing tests. Finding it hard to come to terms with this. Any help grateful received. Thank you.

Hello and welcome. I know you will feel a bit blasted by the journey, and that is not surprising, But you now need to turn your attention to moving forward. Your son will need you and indeed your whole family to be there for him and support him. Whilst you may not know the type of MD there are things you can be doing, being positive for him will be of tremendous help. Together you can make sure he has the correct support in place, like claiming PIP or getting the like of OTs involved. It is hard to be more specific as it will depend on whether he lives with you or on his own or with a family. Does he work, and in what area.
Please do come back to and give us some more details. You have already made a good first step in contacting us, lets take it a bit further.

That is even later a diagnosis than me! I was 28 when I was told I had Beckee MD.

You can ask me anything if it might help.

Becker, not ” Beckee”. Am struggling with a dodgy tablet that has been dropped once too often!
